big day

wednesday morning
4/21/2010
8:12am

current weight: 111.7

weight lost since monday morning: 2.4 lbs.

weight needed to lose to hit my 1 month goal:1 lb.

this one is going to be tough since in nowhere on my busy schedule today does it mention the most dreaded 3 letter word to most people: the GYM.

meal forecast for today: marlowe
 - warm open-faced deviled egg sandwich or little gem salad?
- warm cauliflower gratin?
- fried brussel sprout chips?

roe [sf adtech panel event]
- open bar [which i won't be partaking in, so no worries there]
- southern little fried chicken pieces
- shoestring potatoes with pesto aioli
- and a variety of assorted passed hor d'oeuvres

...

god i hope i pull through this and make it happen.

diet tip # 12: to avoid mass consumption at cocktail events, be sure to eat something substantial prior or risk devouring half of the passed appetizers before they even make their rounds. they may be small but they pack HUGE empty calories, plus, they're not even worth it!

 --- 10:18pm update ---

finally, a little bit of rest from a thoroughly hectic day.

my precious morning practically flew by and without even noticing, lunch came and the real action began.

btw, lunch @ Marlowe was utterly fantastic.  we arrived an hour late after our booked time slot and even with the confusing misunderstanding of our accidental reservation cancellation, the host graciously honored our lunch for 4 on what appears to be the busiest time of the day.  the quaint yet open space were filled wall to wall with the SOMA + FiDi lunch crowd, vivacious laughter and budding conversations going full force.  the amiable waitress was extremely helpful by suggesting their signature dishes which we all gladly agreed to in ordering, after all, it was a free lunch. who can say no to that?

spiced prawns served w/hot + boozy sauce

fried brussel sprout chips [with lemon + sea salt]
unique done + painstakingly prepared. the limited seasoning brought out a slight hint of bitterness, yet the oil seemed to have masked the overall unpleasantness brussel sprouts usually represents. an extraordinary dish + a great spin on an american classic you wouldn't find elsewhere.

"poulet vert" with fingerling potatoes, olives + chicory
infinitesimal piece of chicken, albeit savory, this miniscule scrap of protein were more fitting for a child's portion versus a grown woman on the verge of unleashing the hungry beast from within.  despite the morsel presented in front of me, it was one of the juiciest pan-roasted chicken dishes i have ever had.  undeniably scrumptious in taste, the bold flavor packed a punch that made the diminutive size insignificant which is a hard feat to accomplish, seeing as though i was starved beyond redemption. the soft fingerling potatoes were a nice accompaniment to the overly salted chicken [everything's salty to me]; it helped create the fine balance this entree needed.

don't let the proximity of this picture fool you, the portion was tiny!

after a pleasant meal with the team, we rush to roe to prep for our event later on in the evening.

the event was a success. any blips were out of our control and it went surprisingly smooth for my very first panel event open to the online marketing industry and the public.

i kinda dig it.

didn't have much time for dinner, obviously, so i snacked here and there and snuck in some passed hor d'oeuvres.

southern fried chicken bites
scampi prawns
tuna tartare
beef sliders
zucchini fritters

other snacks throughout the day:
chocolate crisp powerbar
 dried mangoes
banana

surprisingly, after such an eventful day, i still found time to go to the gym.

workout of the day: 40 min
40 min [stretching, abs, push ups, legs]

time to get going. another day on the grind. til then, g' nite!
